Avoyelles Today Article On Nelson Energy Well

First horizontal well falls short of expectations; hope still on for overall production

"The first horizontal well drilled in the re-targeted Tuscaloosa Marine Shale and Austin Chalk beneath Avoyelles has fallen short of expected production, but oil officials are still optimistic.  The Deshotels no. 1 well is producing perhaps about one fourth of what some were hoping. Located between Dupont and Odenburg, the well was plagued with problems which engineers have learned from. The second well, the P. Deshotels well, named after farmer Patrick Deshotels, should be completed in May, and will benefit from the mistakes or misfortunes in new drilling techniques that are still being fine tuned by the industry."
